Vinitaly 2019: our small guide

Tuscany is the most important wine region in Italy as well as one of the most renowned wine regions in the world. Its name comes from the name – Eturia – the Greeks and Romans gave to the land at that time inhabited by the Etruscan. Wines from 29 different designations of origin and 7 different certified and guaranteed designations of origin are produced there. Among its wines, we must highlight Chianti Classico and Vin Santo, both available in Dievole’s winery, as well as Brunello di Montalcino or Nobile de Montepulciano. The majority of them are elaborated with sangiovese grapes. That is why this variety is considered as the queen of the centre of Italy. Cereals, potatoes and olives are also grown in the Tuscan fields. In fact, the region is also an important producer of extra virgin olive oil, a product that you can purchase in Dievole. On the other hand, Tuscany is one of the most popular destinations in Italy, thanks to its historical, cultural and artistic heritage. Its capital, Florence, was the cradle of the Renaissance; that is the reason why many artists moved to Tuscany looking for work and recognition in the Middle Ages. Far and wide of its nearly 23,000 square metres, the region offers all kinds of tourist experiences. Visit Tuscany for walking around large vineyards and tasting its products and also for discovering Florence with its Duomo, its Ponte Vecchio and its museums, as well as other cities that maintain their medieval charm intact. It is the case of Siena – famous by its Piazza del Campo –, Pisa and its iconic leaning tower, Lucca, Montalcino, San Gimignano with its high towers, Pienza with its historical city centre, Grieve in Chianti or Montepulciano. Book your accommodation at Villa Dievole and visit the cypress hills, the Middle Age stone fortifications, the Etruscan and Roman remains and the numerous monuments that make Tuscany famous. It is one of the most beautiful areas to take photos. With the help of Dievole, you will discover the most special spots to capture the Tuscan charm with your camera. You can find useful tips for your trip, the best routes to visit Tuscany’s villages – some of them little known – and recipes to enjoy the flavours and aromas of this central area of Italy. Please, do not leave without tasting the region’s wines and gastronomy, since it is a cross-border combination.
