With our small guide of Vinitaly 2019 you can discover the most interesting things to do at the most renowned wine event in Italy.
Verona. The city of love, where star-struck lovers Romeo and Juliet met their bittersweet fate, is the hotbed of yet another undying passion that draws thousands to this corner of northern Italy: the love of wine. Since 1967, Verona has been celebrating this romance by hosting international wine exposition Vinitaly, the go-to trade fair for both national and international wineries and wine enthusiasts. This year the event will be celebrating it’s 53d edition and will take place from Sunday, April 7 to Wednesday, April 10 2019 inside the spaces of Verona’s Veronafiere. The event will be open daily from 9.30 am to 6 pm and access is limited to adults involved in the wine trade – though this includes a wide range of people and the event is very crowded with enthusiastic sommeliers, restauranteurs, import-exporters, press and more.
In addition to the official program, the whole city will be alive with Vinitaly and the City, a series of widespread collateral events featuring poetry, music, food, art and conferences about wine. For last year’s edition, 130 thousand people flocked to Verona to get the lowdown on the best of the wine industry, so we’re sure that Vinitaly 2019 will be even more successful!
Vinitaly isn’t only about wine – over the years it has expanded its horizons dedicating specific annexes to high-quality olive oil and food (Sol&Agrifood) and technology in the wine and EVOO sectors (Enolitech). High-end gastronomy and all made-in-Italy food-related services are also among the fair’s key topics: The program includes cooking shows held by Star chefs and new names, finger food and takeaway meals, not to mention organic menus, product culture and the overall presentation of Italian culinary traditions.
There will be two main catering areas alongside the usual smaller venues like finger-food pitstop Speedy Goloso (Hall C-Sol&Agrifood), NaturalmenteBIO Restaurant’s organic specialties and Gourmeat Bistro’s Tuscan cuisine:
- Ristorante d’Autore (1st floor, Palaexpo) will present four gourmet lunches by four great chefs together with wines proposed by AIS and the Franciacorta Consortium.
- The Self Service d’Autore (1st floor, Signori Gallery between Halls 11 and 12) is managed by the JRE Association (Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe) featuring Chefs from all over the boot, changing daily.
But back to wine, the real star of the fair: Dievole will be at Vinitaly 2019 inside Pavillion 9 (Toscana), Stand C-10, in the recently renewed Tuscany annex. This edition we will be bringing our flagship Chianti Classico in the vintage 2017 and Novecento Riserva 2016. Like last year, we’ll have our Le Due Arbie line of easy-to-drink white, rosé and red IGT Toscana’s available to taste.
Last year we previewed the Vigna di Sessina Chianti Classico Gran Selezione which completed our Chianti Classico line, while this year’s big surprise is a reserve from our Bolgheri property: Tenuta Meraviglia Maestro di Cava Bolgheri DOC Superiore.
In fact, you will have the opportunity to meet all the other labels by Dievole in Tuscany: Podere Brizio and Poggio Landi in the Montalcino area; Tenuta Meraviglia and Tenuta Le Colonne in Bolgheri, which are all part of the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards Italia.
The Vininternational pavillon will feature international wineries from England, Spain, the United States, Croatia, Argentina, Portugal, Australia and South Africa, while the Vinitalybio wing will shine a light on new, organic wines.
Vinitaly 2019 will certainly be a blast – we can’t wait to be in Verona with our wines, meeting new people and sharing our experiences to the sound of clinking, swirling glasses, bringing our winemaking knowledge to this unique event that has been bringing wine enthusiasts together for over half a century.
