This year, as with previous harvests, Dievole’s best olive oils have been positively judged in numerous international EVOO competitions.
For the third year in a row, we’re very proud that our Coratina monocultivar has received the prestigious Mugelli Award at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition 2017. This is an unprecedented honour as it is the first time that this prize goes to the same producer every year. Our Coratina is appreciated for its well-structured flavour – the bittery edge and vegetal undertones make it a one-of-a-kind EVOO, suited for a variety of tasty pairings – though other blends and monocultivars from the Olio di Dievole line received silver and gold medals in Los Angeles as well.
Juries of olive oil experts at the Florentine Premio Magnifico have come together to pick the 24 best olive oils in the world, and for the second year in the road, Dievole takes home a prize. While in 2016 it was the 100% Italiano Monocultivar coratina to steal the show, in 2017, the 100% Italiano blend of Coratina, Nocellara, Ogliarola took the prize.
“We are very pleased to receive this kind of recognition for Olio di Dievole,” says Stefano Capurso, General Manager, about the two major prizes. “In the past few years, Dievole has truly left its mark in the world of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is the result of tireless research and a deep love for our territory and traditions. Our olive groves in Chianti Classico and in the south of Italy are constantly monitored and cared for in order to assure the high quality of our product. Our attention to monocultivar olive oil varieties has been a winning strategy much appreciated by gastronomic experts worldwide seeking for unique flavours.”
We’re particularly proud of the worldwide appreciation of our products. Close to home, Gambero Rosso awarded “Three Leaves” to our Coratina after tasting hundreds of samples for the Oli d’Italia guide. Both the Coratina and 100% Italiano blend are much loved on either side of the States, taking home top prizes not only in LA but also at the world-renowned New York EVOO Competition, judged against 910 oils from 20 countries. And it should come as no surprise that juries in Asia were also quick to award accolades to these exceptional oils, with the Coratina, 100% Italiano blend and Nocellara taking home gold and silver medals at both Olive Japan and Oil China.
Every year, our success is what make us strive further towards achieving excellence, investing in research and innovation yet maintaining our traditions intact. The approaching 2017 harvest will be yet another chance for Dievole to prove its ever-evolving skills in the field of olive oil-making. Keep your Tuscan bread on hand to drizzle with the goodness of Dievole’s best olive oils next November!
